Travel guide – getting to Defiance Spirits

Defiance Spirits is based at Spotland Bridge Mill, just outside Rochdale town centre. It’s easy to reach using trains, trams and local buses, with only a short walk at the end.

From Rochdale Train Station (National Rail)

Rochdale Station is the closest mainline rail station, with regular services from Manchester Victoria, Leeds and across Greater Manchester.

From the station, you have two options:

Option 1: Bus
• Leave the station and walk to Rochdale Interchange (the main bus station), which is next to the railway station.
• Take bus 467 or 468 towards Spotland Bridge / Bury.
• Get off at “Spotland Bridge”.
• Spotland Bridge Mill is about a 2-minute walk from the stop. Enter the mill complex and follow signs for the West Wing, Unit 30.

Option 2: Taxi
• Taxis are available outside the station.
• The journey takes around 5–10 minutes depending on traffic.

Walking the whole way from the station is possible but takes around 35–40 minutes.

From Metrolink (Manchester Tram)

If you’re coming by tram, get off at either:
• Rochdale Railway Station Metrolink stop, or
• Rochdale Town Centre Metrolink stop.

From either stop:
• Walk to Rochdale Interchange.
• Take bus 467 or 468 towards Spotland Bridge.
• Get off at “Spotland Bridge” and walk into Spotland Bridge Mill (around 2 minutes).

If you prefer to walk, it’s roughly a 10–15 minute walk from the town centre tram stops to the mill.

By Local Bus (Direct)

Several local buses stop very close to Spotland Bridge Mill.

Nearest bus stops:
• Spotland Bridge (about 2 minutes’ walk)
• Longfield Road (about 3 minutes’ walk)

Common bus routes serving these stops include:
• 467
• 468
• 437
• 461
• 881 (limited service)

From any of these stops, walk towards Spotland Bridge Mill on Mellor Street. Once inside the mill complex, head to the West Wing and look for Unit 30.

From Rochdale Town Centre (On Foot)

From Rochdale town centre, the walk takes around 20–25 minutes.

• Head north towards Spotland Road.
• Continue until you reach Spotland Bridge.
• Turn towards Mellor Street and enter the Spotland Bridge Mill complex.

Final tips

• Spotland Bridge Mill is a large historic mill building – once inside, look for signs pointing to the West Wing.
• If you’re unsure, locals and bus drivers usually know “Spotland Bridge Mill”.
• Allow a little extra time on your first visit to find the correct unit.
